Driving lessons may get even more expensive due to rising fuel prices

If you are currently working towards your driving licence or plan to start soon, you have probably noticed or heard it already: fuel prices are going through the roof. What many future drivers do not immediately realise is that these rising prices at the pump have a direct effect on the cost of driving lessons.

The Netherlands is one of the most expensive countries for fuel

It is unfortunately a fact: the Netherlands is currently one of the most expensive countries, if not the most expensive, when it comes to fuel prices. Both petrol and diesel are reaching record highs. Driving schools feel this every day, as their lesson cars cover many kilometres. To cover their costs, driving schools are forced to pass these extra fuel costs on in the hourly price of a lesson.

What does this mean for your path to a licence?

In short: getting your driving licence is becoming more expensive. Where a driving lesson was a lot cheaper a few years ago, you now often pay a considerable amount per hour. Because an average learner needs around 40 to 45 hours to get ready for the practical test, the total price of your driving training can add up considerably.

How can you still save money?

Now that practical lessons are getting more expensive, it is more important than ever to handle your budget smartly. One of the best ways to save on your total licence costs is to make sure you pass your car theory quickly and first time. The faster you understand and apply the theory, the more efficient your practical lessons will be, which could save you a few expensive lesson hours!
