Sign A3: speed limit on a matrix sign
A speed shown on an electronic sign above the road (matrix sign) is a speed limit. You may not drive faster there.
Official text (RVV 1990, translated)
“Speed limit on an electronic signalling panel”
What you need to know
- Is a speed shown above your lane? Then you may use that lane. A red cross means: do not use this lane. A white arrow warns that a red cross is coming. art. 73
- Do a sign beside the road and a matrix sign above the road both show a speed limit? Then the lowest applies. If the roadside sign says 100 and the sign above your lane says 70, your maximum is 70. art. 63b
- Traffic signs may be shown electronically. art. 64a
